Inlays & Onlays
What are Inlays and Onlays?
Inlays and onlays are restorations that are fitted to a cavity in a tooth and bonded in place. For larger cavities they are stronger and more durable than a regular filling. They may be used to restore a broken tooth or may replace an existing large filling. They are used when the damage is not severe enough to require a crown.
If you have damaged or broken teeth, or potentially need large fillings, inlays and onlays can be a superior alternative to fillings or crowns. We use porcelain inlays and onlays made from a very durable material that has the same color as your natural teeth.

Restorations in one visit
Dr. Crumpton can provide you with a quality onlay or inlay in a single visit using breakthrough CEREC technology.
CEREC is an acronym for CEramic REConstruction. It consists of three simple steps that can be used to create perfect full and partial tooth restorations in minutes.
After the dentist has prepared the tooth by clearing away any tooth decay or old fillings that need to be replaced we take a 3-dimensional photo of your tooth using a digital x-ray camera.
Our computer system analyzes your mouth structure to determine the optimum shape and dimensions for your new veneer, crown or filling.
Your new tooth is milled out of a small block of ceramic using a diamond-cutter. This process takes 4 to 6 minutes depending on the size of the replacement tooth. Your dentist then bonds the new ceramic replacement into place.
